Adventure 4WD Hire in Darwin
Gateway to the Top End
Darwin is the ideal starting point for exploring Australia’s tropical north — a region of waterfalls, floodplains, escarpments and ancient Aboriginal rock art. With vast distances and ever-changing conditions, having your own fully equipped 4WD allows you to explore at your own pace while reaching areas most visitors never see.
Local highlights & must-see attractions:
Litchfield National Park – Florence Falls, Wangi Falls, Buley Rockhole
Kakadu National Park – Ubirr, Nourlangie, Yellow Water floodplains
Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) – spectacular gorge scenery with the option of a guided gorge cruise or kayaking
Mataranka Thermal Pools – Bitter Springs & Mataranka Springs
Cahills Crossing – famous river crossing on the East Alligator River and the main entry point to Arnhem Land (tide- and condition-dependent)
Gunlom Falls* – iconic infinity pool overlooking Kakadu
Jim Jim Falls* – towering escarpment waterfall, one of Kakadu’s most recognisable landmarks
Arnhem Land – permits required
* Waterfalls such as Gunlom and Jim Jim Falls are subject to seasonal closures and track conditions. Access varies throughout the year and must be checked prior to travel.
